You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day.
~Psalm 91:5
Today, we are praying for deliverance from fear throughout our adoption process.
What do we fear (or fear we will fear)?
Fear of the unknown.
Fear of the uncertainty of how many children and what ages God has chosen for us to adopt.
Fear of first-time parenting.
Fear of money.
Fear of bumps in the road of our adoption journey.
Fear of flying to and from Africa (that's me). TWICE.
Fear of our children's broken hearts.
Fear of loooong waits.
Fear of fear itself.
God says to fear Him, nothing and no one else.
Trust and obey.
Beth Moore said:
"We will miss the greatest adventures of our calling if we remain compelled by comfort. We will be bored stiff and wonder why God never called us to anything. How willing are we to just flat out GO for God? And it is important to remember that in order to go anywhere, we first have to leave someplace else (usually that means our safe place, our comfort zone). If we choose comfort to motivate us, we will risk our callings…because this I can promise you -- your calling will always be WAY outside your comfort. God is a whole lot more interested in your calling than your comfort.”
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for calling us to this grand adventure! Help us to not fear, but rather to trust and obey you, no matter the cost. Let us fear you only, and give the rest all to you.
What a great post. I expect there will be bumps in the road and the journey may be long and have some fearful moments. But I believe the destination will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFear is such a crazy thing. I'm glad you are not listening to it. The things you listed as being afraid of, I kept nodding yes, yes, yes, yes .... But Beth Moore's quote, oh, how it squashes that fear and empowers. Our God is not a God of fear.
ReplyDeletePraying along with you this month!
