Old Souls

I cannot believe it is August already. Before I know it, the snow is going to fly! In just 2 short months, we could have our first snowfall here in Wisconsin, and that is scary. I love snow for Christmas, but I am truly a summer girl. Give me blue skies, a body of water, let me go barefoot, and I am happy.

Colin had the last 4 days off, and we decided to play 'tourists' where we live. We took a 1 1/2 hour boat cruise around the Chain of Lakes in King, WI. Colin told me that we have old souls. These are the types of things that we enjoy. All the others on the boat tour, minus two small children, were 55+. One man was celebrating his 91st birthday. He was so cute.

*Colin always makes fun of me for saying old people are cute, but they ARE!*

We did meet a 50-something couple on the boat that easily revealed they had not had kids because of infertility. They thought we were newlyweds (!), and of course, when we stated we've been married for 4 1/2 years, they (like everyone else in the world) had to ask if we have kids. They were kind about it all, though, and very relatable.

It's amazing, just amazing, how my eyes have opened to how many couples have had to or currently struggle with infertility.

After the boat ride, we ate at a local restaurant--Clearwater Harbor--just off the water. We just had chicken sandwiches, chive fries, and shrimp bisque, but it was so nice to be able to enjoy a day alone with nowhere to be and no chores to do.

I love these days.

  1. Have you used fertility friend? It's a free (unless you want to upgrade) site for tracking your cycles. It's easy, I've used it for a few years now.

I think Eric and I are old souls too, and old people are adorable!

  3. I know it may sound crazy to you, but as someone who lives in the deep south, I've only seen snow maybe 3 times in my entire life. I find it to be soooo cool. However, I wouldn't want to deal with it all the time:) I think God puts us in the path of fellow infertiles to remind us we are not alone and so they can lend an understanding ear. I am so happy you enjoyed your time with your husband. My husband and I are old souls too...we love plays and touring plantation homes, etc. We we do these things we are also with others 50+. I wouldn't have it any other way. It makes me happy! I hope you have many more awesome days like this!!

  4. Sounds like a lovely day! I would love something like that too. I've always had a soft spot for seniors...they truly are adorable and we can learn so much from them.

I had a similar conversation with my hubby over the weekend too...we know SO MANY people having problems TTC, it's just unreal. In a way it's reassuring that we are not alone, but it's also sad. What the heck is going on?

    Sorry about CD1 :(
